Nanbanin Kadhali - Dull and Dreary

The movie’s story is a straight lift from Bollywood filmmaker David Dhawan’s universal hit ‘Mujhse shaadi karoge’ which starred Salman Khan and Akshay kumar in the leads, thrown inn with lot of comic stuffs created ripples at the box-office in the blitz.

Director Kicha has tried his level best to prop the floundering career of Kunal and Vikramadithya sailing across in crude and pathetic terms.

Nanbanin Kadhali is a pale and pastiche of all the tired jokes and puerile puns that we have seen before. Kunal’s unexpected take on films with constipated spoofs and parodies wearing thin roles, infact come across as sick efforts of a man who has run out of ideas. The jokes and spooks just fall flat and seem tasteless like stale sodawater. By the time the film veers towards the end, you almost feel like calling out for the ambulance. Kunal and Vikramaditya try to be smart and casual. But their attempt to bring humour fails simply because the joke is not properly reflected on them. More than finding sense in the film, director Kicha has interlaced unwanted glamour with enough masala to work this hot season focussing on shivani, particurlarly being saucy and voluptuous.

The tale revolves between two bum-chums Kunal and Vikramaditya who grow under one roof since childhood. Kunal flies abroad for his higher studies.

The story begins when Vikramaditya, who lands on goa in search of job. He espies the sexy bimbo Shivani and it is love at first sight for him. Kunal’s sudden creep in the scene as Vikramaditya’s room mate creates all hurdles in his life making both fight and crave for the girl. The plot of the movie moves as Vikramaditya is not aware that Kunal is his childhood friend. Things go awry for Vikramaditya when kunal provoke Shivani, to fall in love with him.

When seeing Kunal’s courageous act Shivani comes to propose Kunal, but he rejects her love. Everyone must be surprised on their seats why did he do that? Well! The reply is all because of his kith and kin close friend Vikramaditya to refine himself and turn sober. Will Vikramaditya recognise the tricky game played by Kunal is all for good cause and will he get united with his beloved finally clearing all the misconceptions from the girl’s family? forms the sick plot.

As far as acting is concerned Vikramaditya has come-up with decent performance and has played his part well. But next time he should be choosy about his films and should concentrate more working with sensible film makers.

Kunal needs to learn some acting lessons. One cannot see any improvement in his performance. He has to recover from his fatigued expressions. New find Shivani just does a disappearing show cutting out only in flimsy outfits oozing lot of seduction which makes the audience perplex! What made the director choose her as a heroin(e)? or Cabaret hippe?

Senior personality Vinu Chrakravarthy as a girl’s father impresses. The loads of experience behind the actor are evident in the way he performs. Also it is a come-back film for Nirosha, where she has got little to do with anaemic act playing his docile wife.

The Landscape and placid look of Goa is well captured by Cinematographer D.Shankar, which is visual treat for the eyes. Well! this alone does not count for the movie’s success. Indeed, director Kicha should strive hard to reach upto the viewers expectations. Though he has taken cue from the original hit without any efforts, one can feel Kicha with negligence just has not managed to cobble them with any sense of purpose. Truly! A fallout show which cannot be digested by the viewers.

Music score by Deva is insufferable and displeasing to the ears.
