Apada Mokkula Vaadu - Telugu Movie Review

February - 11 - 2008

After the success of ‘Operation Duryodhana’, Posani Krishnamurali once again came out with another political satire. However, in a bid to make it a commercial hit and to elevate the hero’s image, he chose a little more violence in the second half, which watered down the original theme. In fact, Posani’s main aim is to explain to the people that the influence of goondas, anti-social elements and corrupt administration made the political system corrupt. Though there are several honest leaders who worked selflessly for the country, the entire system is getting damaged due to a handful of corrupt and greedy politicians. The politicians spend money like water during elections. They distribute money and liquor, resort to rigging with the help of goons and other such unlawful acts to get elected. Later, they plan to get back more than what they spent during elections during their five-year term. So, they resort to corruption, land-grabbing and other scams to amass wealth. Again the elections will come and the people in a bid to teach them a lesson gives power to another party. As they were in opposition and could not gain anything during the earlier term, they too resort to corruption. Likewise, the cycle goes on and the ultimate losers would be the people. Posani wanted to change this vicious system. His theme and storyline was so far so good. But after certain time, the film takes another twist and the hero starts taking revenge, thus the film moves with the help of lots of action scenes and violence.

Rangaiah Naidu (Nagababu) is a ZPTC member. Being an honest leader, people vote him to power. There is a leader called Lokeswara Rao (Tanikella Bharani), who wants to become minister and takes the help of one Sreenu (Rayapati Srinivas). Sreenu kills the minister-designate Koteswara Rao, an NRI, to help Lokeswara Rao get ministerial berth. When Lokeswara Rao takes oath as minister, there comes floods and cause loss his native district. Government sanctions Rs 400 crore as relief and the politicians and corrupt officers swindle the money by spending meager amounts for relief works. Naidu meets Chief Minister (Rayapati Sambasiva Rao) and appeals to do justice. The CM orders a probe. Will Naidu was able to do justice to the people and why he needs to resort to violence has to be seen on the silver screen.

Nagababu did complete justice to his role. He was a perfect fit to the character and he delivered the dialogues with good ease. Moreover, he effortlessly performed in action scenes. Tanikella Bharani played the negative role, while Chalapati Rao, Jackie and others played the other villains. Saikumar played the role of Raja Reddy, a superintendent of police. Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, the real life political leader played the role of Chief Minister in the movie. AVS, Sana, Babu Mohan and Kotagiri Sankara Rao gave the comic relief.

The director chose graphics in many scenes, especially for portraying the thunders, the hero’s secret image and other such scenes. The technical values in the film are good. Camera work by A Raja is okay, while the action scenes are different from routine. Music by Lenina Choudary is average. Dialogues penned by Koratala Siva are good in parts. The director chose the film as a platform to hint the Chiranjeevi’s political entry by using words like such a personality should come to serve the country. Screenplay is a little boring, as many scenes were stretched to boring levels. Posani Krishnamurali, somehow lost the talent in taking when compared to ‘Operation Duryodhana’.

The political satires scripted in the film are worth listening. The dialogues were coincidental and were penned in a colloquial language. The first half of the film is very slow, However, it appeared that the director tried to make the film a commercial hit and kept lot of violence deviating from the original theme. The release of the film was delayed due to some unavoidable problem and hence several fans of Mega Brothers, who rushed to the theatres to watch the film returned with disappointment.
