Anjathey – An exquisite entertainer
Brilliantly crafted stunning script adhered with streaky screenplay makes Anjathey audiences feel from the very bottom of their hearts ‘it’s a pure cinema of Kollywood’. With its very distinctive characterizations and actors breathing their lives on it, has it all a different piece of work for you. Hitesh Jhabak proves of his ability of a brilliant entrepreneurship in producing an unique flick sans normal stuffs.
Well, as of Mysskin, Can you say this auteur is an Albert Einstein of Tamil Cinema? Of course, I don’t find it as a flaw in saying so. Though has resemblance, the film doesn’t seems to be excerption and to a greater extent, I feel Mysskin for sure can get sorted nether avant-garde. Narain coiffures with an outstanding performance and debutant Ajmal creaks with a stunning show drawing spotlight on his side. Well, Prasanna is a bit of disappointment – yeah! Don’t kid yourself- Prasanna is the flame that draws us deep into the film. Fine! A flick exceeding 180 minutes with these guys on stunning show sans popcorns in your hands makes Anjathey topper of box-office chart.
Can you ever reckon of meeting your long-time friend at gun point? Does this get into your goose bumps? Yup! No doubt about it. Looking like a major awards contender, Anjathey centers on the lives of two close friends Sathya (Narain) and Kiruba (Ajmal). Their fathers as police constables living together in the same colony are the similarities you can point out on them. Vigorous Kiruba is aiming for the position of Police officer while Sathya looms like a colossus as notorious youngster considered as ‘one of the finest rogues of the colony’. And Daya (Prasanna) is the watchful center of his volcanic performance coined with psychotic character abducting daughters of big-shots in the city.
If you hadn’t measured the length of a dangerous negative character, Prasanna does it with a bold attempt.
Double-dealing under the table and influences does turn Sathya into a police officer and Kiruba is pushed into gloomy ambience when he fails in the exam. A great barrier in their longtime friendship is where you will find Kiruba cursing Sathya for his putrescence.
Situations pertaining with his annoying life make Kiruba fall into the envy of money lashed by Daya. Daya along with gang leader Velu (Pandiarajan) and Sappa now use Kiruba for kidnap-racketing. Unaware of his dangerous situation, Kiruba’s eyes are vitally filled of scourging Sathya.
Well, it’s a perplexed knot to get it loosened for police department for they aren’t able to trace the kidnappers’ track. Ponvannan appearing in second half is deus ex machine to trap the baddies and co-incidentally Sathya is into the team. Hooked by the influence of money, Kiruba at a certain extent realizes that he isn’t on the right track, but its too late for him.. With the entire team of gangsters zeroed at the outskirts of city, Sathya traces the pathway of baddies that has Kiruba too. With their guns fully loaded, things are settled between their friendships but with some difference.
Mysskin proves of his unique versatility with the very first frame of worm-angle view and the camera exposed towards the blue-sky. For a bit, in the beginning, Narain does make us feel is his character the same with his maiden flick Chittiram Pesudhadi and soon you will disapprove of it. Debutant Ajmal never does look like an experienced actor with his excellent attribute to emote at different situations. Penning the dialogues bounded with comedy tracks does serve as a highlighting feature for the film. Especially the scenes involving father-son encounters between Naren and M.S.Bhaskar add to the humour part.
And indeed, there are scenes that will melt-down your hearts: an old lady sprinkling flowers at the spot where an unknown stranger remains dead is an awesome piece. Added to this, you have Sappa, a gangster getting shot dead in front of his son and these are the scenes that will get you repeated to watch it.
Vijayalakshmi playing sister role of Ajmal comes up with a naturalistic performance and does justice to her role. With all the actors placed with defying characterizations, they have their jobs appreciated.
Sundar C Babu with a splendid musical score enhances the feel and when together blended with Mahesh Muthusamy’s cinematography enhances quality of the film. This duo keeps your attention fixed at certain points where few scenes may be bit slow and dragging.
On a whole, Anjathey is a master piece work of Kollywood and this becomes the starter of good movies releasing this year for all the expected movies for Pongal dashed down our hopes… Well, it would be nice if this quad-combo of Director Mysskin-Narain-Sundar C Babu-Mahesh Muthulingam sign a memorandum to make films again and again..

I just saw the movie. The movie is superb! I am 40 years old and i havent seen such a good movie till date. I can say “Anjathey” is the best movie i have seen. Hats-Off to direcor Mysskin for such a wonderful presentation. I cannot find any flaws in the movie. Brilliant direction and Thrilling screenplay. Good songs and Background Music. Good Cinematography. Like wise, i can say a lot about this movie. A perfect movie till date. Myskin should direct more movies like that. Thanks to cinefundas for writing good review about this movie. Because i have seen reviews in other sites, they haven’t written much about the movie. Might be, their taste is different. Even in TV Channels, the movie is given second place. But i feel this should be in number one atleast for a year. Once again Hats-Off to the entire team.
