Nenjathai Killadhae – Good tale goes unimpressive

Making good films like Gogulathil Seedhai and Kadhal Kottai, Director Agathiyan is yet back again with Nenjathai Killadhe. His previous ventures, especially Ajith, Devayani starrer Kadhal Kottai delivered a different dimension of love story. With the same attempts, Agathiyan strikes with another love story that has a gripping storyline with defying characterizations.

The story centers on a rich chap Vasan (Vikranth) is an unconventional personality who risks for experiments with an attitude of gaining different experiences. One of the best illustrations would be,Vasan has his food at five star hotel without carrying money with him. Consequently, he gets into the prison to undergo a different time to experience. The most peak of his activity is hiring a sex-worker and lets her sleep alone and moves away without her knowledge.

This incident takes a turn in the tale when Anadhi (Bharathi), a documentary filmmaker meets the same worker and question her about the man whom admired a lot. Eventually, she has Vasan in her mind and speaks of his attitude to Anandhi. His impressive character urges Anandhi to meet Vasan and now they have something to decide with their challenging proposals.

This missy utters physical attractions would lead to love affair and that’s denied by Vasan. So for a change, you don’t have the chap and belle falling in love at the first sight. Anandhi thus asks Vasan to stay with her alone for a week and this would be the finest experiments.

Well, after a week, we don’t see the boy falling in love and Anandhi is more impressed with his character. Proposing her love for Vasan, he refuses to enter into a new relationship saying that he is not interested. He remains constant with his idealistic decision, but not for a very long time. A couple of months later, he develops a feeling of love for Anandhi. Approaching her with a proposal, he has a shocking fact to resist.

The story looks simple and the theme conveyed ‘lots of experiments for different experiences might fail to experience the virtues of real life’. Then puts the film down? The very dragging screenplay and improper narrations does scatter the attention of viewers. Characterizations designed would look better to read in a story book or rough draft, but that shouldn’t have been the finalized stuff.

We don’t happen to find the characterization of the protagonist till a very long time for it isn’t constant. Well, protagonist developing an affair towards the missy isn’t a great deal, but the way he tries to approach in the second half is not convincing.

Agathiyan blending good tale with unique theme together emotional feel of the girl takes the spotlight. But its more dragging with the screenplay as mentioned earlier. Well, the positive attributes of the movie are diminished by this very factor.

Despites getting completed with 4-5 films, Vikranth should have  developed a lot more in his performance, but there isn’t much delivered from him. That doesn’t mean he is too poor, but he has ability to emote well in different situations with a moderate effort…

It is Bharathi who is the convincing factor in the entire film and the way Agathiyan depicting her wins the accolades. Her gestures and eye movements looks are more precise and the most exciting part is that her approach towards the boy even after he rejects her love. Bharathi should now take it for sure that performing such kind of roles will take her to the elevated standards.

All the other characters inclusive of Manivannan, Saranya, Vikramaditya, Nizhalgal Ravi have done their level best of performance and nothing to blame on the part of star casts.

Background scoring by Yughendran does enhances the quality of film while Premiji Amaran too scores listenable tunes for the songs..

As a whole, the story is impressive and designing emotional scenes have been done well. But he could have concentrated more on screenplay and well-polished narration would have made the film’s output good and interesting.
