Tell-tales about the ‘action king’ playing the negative lead in Rajnikanth’s upcoming Robot were proved wrong when Arjun confirmed that they were just rumours in passing. “I am not part of Robot, and no one has approached me about such a role either,” he said. Arjun however, has his hands full for the next few months. He enters new fields with a production of a movie in Kannada and his first film in Malayalam. Arjun’s fans are all excited about the soon-to-be-released Bommalaattam, being re-released in Hindi as Cinema and in Telugu as Kalidasa, and so is the star. This will be Arjun’s first movie under ace-director Bharathiraaja and the previews and critics are already making a lot of noise about the film. Nana Patekar also stars in this movie, which will also mark his first with Bharathiraaja and in Tamil. After Marudhumalai failed to create any viable impact even though it did fairly well at the box office, fans are anxious for a super hit, and Bommalaattam might just be what they’re waiting for. Arjun will also star in his first Malayalam movie, Vande Mataram. “Vande Mataram is my first movie in Malayalam. It is with director Aravindhan and I’m looking forward to it,” he says. Vande Mataram is releasing in Tamil as Aruvadai and rumours have it, that the Big B might be seen playing a prominent role in the film. Both the films will see Arjun in the role of a cop, and we hope this will keep his fans contented. The Kannada film industry will soon see Vayuputra, produced by Arjun, directed by his brother Kishore and featuring his nephew Chiranjeevi Sarja. The movie is slated for a May release. Arjun aficionados can also look out for the upcoming Dorai, scheduled to release later this year. Arjun seems to have quite a bit up his sleeve and it’s left to these films to prove whether he is indeed a jack of all trades or a master of none.
