Kannada film on the lines of TZP

February - 28 - 2008

Bollywood film Taare Zameen Par showcased the role of the ‘teacher’ in different light. Kicking off a trend is a host of

upcoming films in the Kannada film industry that have a teacher playing the protagonist. There’s an Upendra-starrer

Buddhivantha which was launched recently. The latest one to join the bandwagon is the Devraj starrer Mestru. However, Devraj

says, “Our film Mestru has nothing to do with Taare Zameen Par. That was a great film. Ours has a simple but different story.

It is not a film for children either. It is a story that has been written for the entire family.”Apparently, Devraj plays the

protagonist who not only inculcates the values of being truthful among his students, but also practices the same. The film

will also have its share of song and dance as well as violence and action. The film is being directed by Mahadev who has till

date been directing some very popular television soaps. Also part of the star cast are Ananth Nag, C R Simha and Bhanupriya.
