Few flicks make their best approach in culminating same old trends. Film sans songs, parallel comedy tracks that hinder momentum, heroisms and punch dialogues and Akku will be the best illustration. Team of innovative thoughts have worked for out of box thinking.
Akku is final alphabetical order that isn’t normally used and also it means the climax. As the title goes, the film makes audiences fixed with thrilling expectations for the climax. The very definition of a ‘taut’ thriller, this suspense yarn scripted by Mamani aims straight for the adrenalin glands and never lets your eyes away from the screen. An IT professional named Siva (Ajay) finds himself focused in a real hurry when a terrorist (Raakshai) brother of his girl friend Bhanu (Sriji) fixes a newly designed bomb to his shoes. If he stops running, the bomb would immediately explode devastating the entire area.
Terrorist buzzes up with a defying call to the police department revealing about this plan. Soon, the police department led by assistant commission of police (Riyaaz Khan), bomb squad mentored by Anu Haasan and a group of doctors are right there beside him.
Situations get complicated when Siva is totally exhausted of running continuously for more than 20 hours. His oxygen and pulse rate gets reduced and remember terrorists are there right on his way to knock him down. Will he make up for the destination? What happened to his girl friend who is locked in a dark room? Will the police department succeed in dashing down the plans of terrorists? forms crux of the story…
Director Mamani wins accolades by keeping up the anxiety level marked up to the extent of 90mins. We are sure Hitchcock would have smiled on approving of Mamani’s aptitude of playing tricks with the building blocks. It would have been nice if the director along with his crew had worked more on pre-production. The film lack certain factors that happens to be a blatant flaw.
It’s unbelievable to see a person running continuously for 24 hrs and instead it could have been done for a time reel of dawn till dusk. Be it police, doctors or media personalities: everyone are there moving right beside Shiva, but none of them are filled with tensed moods. A lady doctor encouraging him to run looks like someone who would do the same for a running race.
EFX works by Raakshay who performs the role of terrorist adds more enhancement to the frame. There are nothing much to do with static shots and editor has his talent showcased by using split screens whenever necessary.
Background scoring especially during the initial scenes has been composed well and almost all technical aspects have been up to the mark.
If this entire team of Akku had a Big banner to make this movie, we are sure this would have been one of the best movies of the year. A trendsetting movie indeed is worthy to be watched.
