Remeber the young pert Monica, the girl who played the younger Nandita Das in Azhagi? The actress, who has so far done only homely roles, is now turning bold. Monica will play a sensuous glam babe in Silandhi, the debut venture of G Productions.
The hero of Silandhi is Munna, who has acted in many films, including one with Kavya Madhavan in Malayalam. The film also stars Riyaz Khan, Nellai Siva, Jagan and debutant Chandru, playing a baddie in the film.
The film is written and directed by Aadhi, who has worked as a film journalist for over 13 years. Debutant music composer Neil Mukherjee, was roped in to compose tunes for the film But this time around, Silandhi is in the news because its music composer Neil Mukherjee has quit.
Word has it that director Aadhiraj criticised the rerecording which upset Neil Mukherjee. After a long discussion, they parted ways and it is M. Karthik, who has worked on several ads, who is now working on the RR now. Aadhiraj, however, holds no grudge against Neil for walking out just days before the movie’s release. On the contrary, the director continues to praise his work, adding that Neil has a lot of potential.
The film’s plot revolves about the struggles faced by lovers even after marriage. Monica, who usually avoids glamorous roles, accepted this role only because of the story. Recently, an erotic song on the lovers was picturised along the shores of an island near Pondicherry.
