Kannum Kannum – A poignant tale of romance

Well, Kannum Kannum rises a deep doubt among ourselves whether G.Marimuthu is a debutant or has already directed many film. You know why? The film makes so sensible to watch it, not just to kill your time with buckets of popcorns, but has something more than that. Are you wondering what is Kannum Kannum all about? Promos for the film would be a good illustration that it’s a romantic tale and watching this film may get you the traces of Director Agathiyan’s yesteryear classic ‘Kaadhal Kottai’. If the entire film had gushed through with letters and telephones, Kannum Kannum may bring you the letters mailed between youngsters who haven’t seen each other. However, twists and turns rendered by the auteur get your attention grabbed towards the screen.

Let’s not keep ourselves just with the intro and now it’s time for you to glimpse through the synopsis and analyze the movie with its pros and cons…

The film centers on an orphan (Prasanna) residing in Chennai and couple of scenes keep us aware that his childhoods days were filled with hard times. Somehow, with his wholehearted determination, he comes up in life completing his graduation in engineering. Though it isn’t a mainstream profession, he has more likeliness for penning poems and attempts to get it published in Tamil magazines. However, he is shocked to see the same poem he had penned is already published in a magazine under the name of Shenbagavalli.

Soon on the attempts of tracking this girl, he sets out to Kuttralam after getting few clues about the missy. Over here in Kuttralam, it is Udhayathara who had used his poems. Since Shenbagavalli is a pen name, he fails miserably in tracking her down. Later, when things come close favorable for Prasanna, he has fate and destiny has got some other plans for them.

Speaking about the performance, everyone have done their level best in breathing lives on the character played by them. Prasanna, followed by Anjathey and Saadhu Miranda scores hat trick hitting bull’s eyes. Udhayathara does a convincing job, but few aspects including her dancing style has to be improved. Vadivelu though appears in parallel comedy tracks, he has his humor part entertaining the audiences.

The most annoying part of the film is the music scored by Dheena. None of the songs are most appealing. Our better advice for music director Dheena  is that please tune in with good melodies.

As a whole, Kannum Kannum is an interesting storyline that can be watch together along with your family and enjoy yourselves.
