One of the jokes within the media circles is the Priyanka Chopra-Harman Baweja affair. As a tabloid recently pointed out, no one except Priyanka seems to believe in her emphatic refusals.
But Priyanka is not alone. Most Bollywood ladies, over the years, have refused to kiss and tell. Indeed, linkups invariably affect the market value of these women. But more often than not, these heroines prefer keeping their trap shut simply to stay out of controversy.
Rani Mukerji for instance, has vociferously denied her relationship with Aditya Chopra for the longest time ever. Those in the know will also tell you about her raging affair with Govinda. But Rani has never acknowledged these men and the affairs. Jaya Bachchan too preferred to keep the media out of her life. She of all people knew that opening her bedroom doors would have also opened a nasty can of worms.
But while most heroines have happily given in to the typical ‘Indian woman’ image, there are those handful, who have lived life on their own terms. And no, we aren’t even talking about the Rakhi Sawants of the world or even the new kids on the block.
Over the last four decades some of these bindaas babes have chosen the fast lane, the consequences notwithstanding. Wonder who we are talking about?
