Ravi pins hope for action movie

April - 17 - 2008

Breathing a sigh of relief with his recent release ‘Santosh Subramaniam’, opening to houseful shows all around the horizon,  Ravi is getting all ready keeping his fingers crossed for his forth-coming venture Dhaam Dhoom, directed by late cinematographer-turned director Jeeva, who left no stones unturned going in spree making this pet project.

Fate turned futile on seeing the deceased director’s work getting incompleted that was left pending after few hard work from making the director’s dream come true, during last phase of shooting in Russia, with the combined efforts of Jeeva’s wife Anise, cameraman P C Sreeram, director Manikantan, the film has been completed and getting set for release.

The trailer was released recently in Chennai. Speeches on the occasion by Jayam Ravi, music composer Harris Jayaraj, writer S Ramakrishnan and director Manikantan were full of soulful references to late Jeeva.

“The Tamilnadu govt has agreed that ‘Dhaam Dhoom’ is a Tamil word and has varied meanings including reference to music,” said S Ramakrishnan.
Ravi said, Jeeva had given him another explanation. “Dhaam assures tranquility and Dhoom says racy. The first half of the film is a tranquil village setting. The second half is racy with action taking place in Russia. One can see calm breeze as well as a cyclone in this film. This is how Mr. Jeeva explained the title to me,” said Ravi. He added that the film would boost his image as an action hero.

“I don’t accept only films that are commercial. For me, the story, the way the screenplay is evolved, all matters before I accept to compose music. Whatever I expect, I see in Jeeva’s films and ‘Dhaam Dhoom’ is also a film of that caliber.

Earlier, for a Jeeva film,  used to sit together for the composing.  Since Jeeva had to go to Russia for the shooting, he asked me to go ahead and compose alone.  When this really did happen, my heart broke.

The film as well as music has turned out the way Jeeva would have wanted. Pa Vijay has penned a song with chaste Tamil that used to be in vogue in the 1950s,” said composer Harris Jayaraj.
