April - 19 - 2008

Santhosh Subramaniam – Substantive Entertainment

No matter about remakes when it comes to the brother duo Jayam Ravi-Raja for they have conquered success for the fourth time. Well, much before taking up the analysis of the movie, we had a question what makes a film more successful among the masses? And we had a well-defined solution after Santhosh Subramaniam. A good entertainment and messages conveyed properly for the masses. Despite, film being the replica of even each and every frame of Telugu version Bomarillu, it is a great time for audiences who enjoy watching it for around 150mins.

Blending together varied genres comedy, romance, emotions and sentiments together, Director Raja hasn’t strained himself giving room to his rational thinking. Jayam Ravi and Prakash Raj playing the father-son role get closer to your hearts creating a feel of next-door characters.

A naturalistic performance by all the actors breathing lives on the characters they have played and dialogues blended with humor part add more life to the screen. Come on viewers, lets take a quick look over the synopsis…

The story of Santhosh Subramaniam goes this way…

Nothing in this world is a problem until it exceeds the limit and that goes well with the love you show for your close relations. Santhosh (Jayam Ravi), born in a rich family has everything he wants, but in excess. His father Subramaniam (Prakash Raj), with the attempt of pampering his son as a great personality, decides everything for him on his own taste. Be it the dress he wears or the food he consumes, nothing lies in the hands of Santhosh and his father has a decision on all. Things are cool until his father arranges Santhosh’s marriage engagement with a girl whom he doesn’t like. Sooner, the chap finds a missy named Haasini (Genelia) of his own taste and likeliness and falls in love with her. But it has a great impact on the part of father-son relationship once their love affair is revealed…

Though not of his original idea, the film has a deep message for each children and parents watching the movie on how their relationships must be carried on. Indeed, a flick sans profanity, vulgarism is sure to be liked by all and there is nothing to doubt about it.

Fine! If you people question us on what is so special about the performance, we have a good reply and that’s the mind blowing performance by Genelia. On the whole, with her enchanting naturalistic and appealing attitude, she steals the show. Also we are sure that none other than  Genelia would have well suited for the role of Haasini.

Not so far behind is the performance by Jayam Ravi, who doesn’t let Genelia dominate him. With usual stuff of acting, the latter part especially in the climax scene, the tall handsome guy has his best of the emotions delivered there.

When it comes to Prakash Raj, the man doesn’t need any criticisms to be commented on his part. A usual great performance from the great versatile personality is all that we got to say about this man.

Devi Sri Prasad seems to have not taken more effort in scoring music, for there isn’t even a single note change in musical score from the album of original version of Bommarillu. Even most part of the background score are same as the Telugu version. Anyways, the song ‘ Adada Adada’ penned by Na.Muthukumar and Actor Siddarth rendering voice for it picks the spotlight.

So, here’s the best movie for summer that you can watch it and we recommend you watch as a whole family. The essence of true relationship has been depicted exquisitely by Director Raja.
