The car used in the latest James Bond film plunged into a lake in Italy on Sunday, while driven by a stunt driver, who was delivering the vehicle, a £120,000 Aston Martin, to the set of the new movie, “Quantum of Solace.â€
The accident was not the result of a stunt, but of the heavy rain combined with the narrow curves of the Lake Guarda.
Fortunately, the driver was rescued quickly by firemen and taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Italian television showed footage of the smashed, black car, reportedly the only one available for the new movie, while it was pulled out of the lake’s water.
“Quantum of Solace†is the latest film in the 007 series, starring Daniel Craig. The film is due to be released later this year and it has been filmed in several locations, including Chile, Mexico, Panama, England and Spain. The poetic title of the film was taken from a collection of short stories written by 007 creator Ian Fleming.
Actor Daniel Craig took up the role of James Bond for 2006’s “Casino Royale†and was the first to portray the special agent as a blue-eyed blonde. He takes up the part once more, this time amidst confidence in his adequacy as 007.
As previously reported, the new film will continue the story told in “Casino Royale,†as Bond seeks to discover the truth about Vesper Lynd’s betrayal. It was revealed that he learns Vesper (portrayed by Eva Green) had been blackmailed.
“Quantum of Solace†is directed by Marc Forster for Columbia Pictures and MGM.
