The 62nd Birthday of Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao will be held in a grand manner. Vamsy International Foundation will organize the event on May 4th, 2008 evening at Ravindra Bharati, Hyderbad. Telugu Film Producers Council President Tammareddy Bharadwaja, the organizers Relangi Narasimha Rao, N. Shankar (Directors Association President), Ramprasad (Secretary), and Vamsi Ramaraju recently briefed the press about the event.
Tammareddy Bharadwaja said: “Last year, Dasari created an international record by felicitating 148 directors. This time, he will be richly honoring 97 producers (with whom Dasari worked with). As part of this, the Best Director Award would be presented to Sekhar Kammula for Happy Days. The Award consists of Rs. 1 lakh cash and citation. The Best Debut Director Award (introduced three years ago) this time would be given to Eeshwar Reddy for the film Mee Sreyobhilashi. The award consists of Rs. 1 lakh cash and citation. Best Film Journalist Award would be presented to senior journalists Pasupuleti Rama Rao and Prabhu. They would be given Rs. 50,000 and citation each. Rs. 1 lakh would be given for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden students, which gesture is continuing every year on Dasari’s birthday.”
Andhra’s evergreen heartthrob Sridevi, Jayaprada, DVS Raju, Dr. C. Narayana Reddy, Dr. MS Reddy, K. Raghavendra Rao, Dr. K. Vishwanath, Dr. Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad and others would grace the event.
