Zeta replaces Aishwarya Rai

June - 25 - 2008

Just when we believed Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the global face of Indian cinema and she could straddle both Bollywood and Hollywood with equal ease we hear that she is no longer a part of the big Hollywood project Racing the Monsoon. The film was to be produced by well-known Hollywood actor Michael Douglas and Aishwarya Rai was to play the female lead.

The film Racing the Monsoon is being jointly produced by Michael Douglas and Percept Picture Company’s Shailendra Singh. According to Mumbai Mirror an industry insider said, “Douglas had met Aishwarya, sometime ago. The two of them had a long discussion and Aishwarya had even been cast in the film. But later, she was replaced and Zeta stepped in.”

According to Mumbai Mirror sources “The film has global appeal. Since Zeta has a lot more global appeal than Aishwarya, she was roped in.”

Aishwarya’s secretary Hari Singh claimed complete ignorance in the matter. According to Hari Singh the best bet was to contact Aishwarya Rai. The actress apparently is not answering SMSs and remains unavailable for comment.

In Racing the Monsoon Douglas who is also producing the film will be seen in a double role. The plot revolves around a diamond robbery which occurs on an Indian train.

Michael Douglas’s production company called Further Films, and Shailendra Singh from Percept Picture Company (PPC) are jointly financing the venture.
