Aayutham Seivoam – Tamil Movie Review

Aayutham Seivoam – One more feather for Sundar C

As in all prior flicks, Sundar C plays spoilsport, but however makes it all happen adding one more feather to his cap. Director Udhayan of Perarasu fame vividly influenced by National Award winning Bollywood film Laghe Raho Munnabhai does a decent work with this directorial score. What’s so special about this film? Conveying good messages through films haven’t been successful for many auteurs except for few who had producers to churn out large money.

The film centers Saidai Sathya (Sundar C) an atrocious thug who remains as sidekick for VBR (Manivannan), an out-and-out double dealing ex-politician. It’s not a big deal for Saidai Sathya to bump off VBR’s opponents for he gets paid for that roughshod task. Staying on as Sathya’s paisano is Traffic Constable Kandasamy (Vivek) who helps out Sathya in creating bottle-neck traffic jam.  Remaining as an embodiment of killjoy, there is nothing that can stop his devilish act of Sathya until and one day when an old good hearted lawyer Udhayamoorthi (Vijaykumar) makes notice of public nuisance caused by him along with Kandasamy. Now, both of them have to undergo a different sort of judgment in the court, where they are sentenced to take up social service activities in Gandhi Museum at Madurai.

With accordance to get in more crowds, he organizes various activities where winners would get an opportunity to shake hands with actress Malavika.  It’s a great deal of rip-roaring moments by an elder person (Nasser) taking care of antiques and Sathya’s ladylove Meenakshi (Anjali). Sathya has whole lot of conflicts with these personalities since its matter of violence and non-violence.

On the parallel tracks, Udhayamoorthi collects the evidence against VBR who was responsible for the death of District Collector (Suganya) and her family members. VBR puts Sathya on the task of stealing the documents and during this course, Udhayamoorthi is killed. But the very blissful final words of this old man stating ‘Lead a happy long life’ starts disturbing Sathya a lot and now is the right time where he is endowed with Gandhian principles. Greatly influenced by the ahimsa principle of Mahatma, Sathya brims with the same principles where he tries to reveal out the true colors of VBR and his fellowmen who were responsible for district officer’s death.

Director Udhayan does decent work, but lacks finesse as the screenplay in the second half goes bit dragging. And at these times, you have comedy star Vivek delivering excellent spells of comedy tracks and this combo of Sundar C-Vivek is sways as the best duo. But we feel that Sundar C must put an end taking up ruffian roles for time being, for next time he appears in same role, audiences may get bored as a part of cliché.

Kattradhu Tamizh fame Anjali who came up with over-the-top performance in her debut flick dashes our hopes appearing in youthful role that has nothing for acting. At the most, she tries to deliver different facial expressions and nothing else.

Napoleon as encounter specialist does justice to his role while Manivannan makes a great comeback donning the role of baddie. Suganya as district collector has her best work spelled and so does Nasser standing on the shoes of a noble old man.

As of technical aspects, there is nothing much impressive and Udhayan should have focused in churning out good works from technical team. Srikanth Deva’s music isn’t so appealing and so does his noisy background scoring.

Aayudham Seivoam is a movie that offers whole lot of entertainment for the masses and indeed a good message. Hats off to Sundar C for a flamboyant performance and Vivek adding to the humor part and Director Udhayan’s drafting of good script. With less flaws, the film is sure to be liked by both frontbenchers and elite group centres.
