Rituparno achieves a casting coup

July - 15 - 2008

Rituparno Ghosh has gone ahead with something no Bollywood director has been successful with so far. He has signed the two sisters Riya Sen and Raima Sen. And the film for which he has signed both of them is Nauka Dubi, which will be an adaptation of a Rabindranath Tagore novel of the same name.

But the Sen sisters will not be playing sisters. Both of them will be sisters-in-law who are married to Priyanshu Chatterjee and Jishu Sengupta. Rituparno has already worked with Raima in the film Choker Bali, Antar Mahal and Khela.

According to Bombay Times Raima Sen said, “I was dying to do a central role with RituParno Ghosh.”

Her sister Riya added, “We were sure we wanted to be cast in the right film. I remember Ritu da had once come home in Calcutta to sign Raima for a role. When he saw me he promised he would sign me one day.”

Let’s hope some of our B’town directors follow his initiative.
