Kavya gets classical in Banaras

Shooting of actor-dancer Vineeth starrer Banaras, directed by Nemam Pushparaj of Gowri Sankaram fame, is progressing in Benaras, also known as Varanasi, one of world’s oldest living cities and the religious capital of India.

Banaras is an offbeat love story, flowering in the backdrop of pilgrim centres in Varanasi. The film gives equal importance to music as well. Produced by M.R. Nair under the banner of Kashi films, the film presents Vineeth as a research student on folk dances and will have some brilliantly-choreographed dance sequences.

For the first time, Kavya Madhavan plays a classical dancer in the film which has Meera Nandan of Mulla fame in a key role. The other important cast members include Jagathy, Nedumudi Venu, Devan, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Harisree Asokan, Suraj Vejaramoodu.

Lyrics are by Gireesh Puthencherry and music is by M. Jayachandran. The singers include K.J. Yesudas, Sadhana Sargam and Shreya Goshal. Camera is handled by M. Sukumar. The film will be shot in Thiruvanthapuram also.
