Raman Thediya Seethai – Tamil Movie Review

Raman Thediya Seedhai – Thumbs up to entire team

Last few Fridays have been a great delight for all, diehard fans of Tamil Cinema and you know it. Saroja, Jeyam Kondan, Poi Solla Porom and this Friday, Cheran’s Raman Thediya Seedhai. Well, this film differs quite on the lines of innovative approach in every aspect.  Yup! Saroja an exact replica of Judgment Night and Hindi movie Sunday while Dhaam Dhoom was a remake of Red Corner. Debutant Jaganath brims up with an excellent and pleasant film that is sure to entertain all the centres.

An youngster on the pursuit of a perfect match lets himself dashed down with hopes with every bride refusing his proposal. He is so intelligent, well settled in his life as successful entrepreneur and of course an innocent person who could well respect women.  Venu (Cheran) is the person we are getting on with. As the film opens, venu along with his mother meets Ranjini (Vimala Raman) at Nagerkoil. Ranjini is happy about the good qualities of Venu until he reveals about his past days that he had undergone psychiatric treatment. It was all due to his vivid involvement in studies during his 12th standard and nothing more totting up to it.

Fine, the scenario persists when Vidhya (Ramya Nambisan) who actually agrees him first, but elopes on the day of marriage without her boyfriend.  With his hopes dashed down, Venu is so vexed until he accidentally meets Nedumaran (Pasupathy) a blind RJ, his wife Tamilizhai (Gajala). As they narrate their love story, Venu is more convinced as Nedumaran makes up for his hopes. Meanwhile, Vidhya’s father (Manivannan) who earlier promised to find a perfect match takes him to Nagarkoil. Over there, Venu has to expose himself to shocks and surprises as he meets pregnant Vidhya, Ranjini who earlier denied him and Gayathri (Karthika), the missy whom Vidhya’s father had fixed for him. Gayathri impresses Venu very well, but his dreams are shattered once he meets an auto driver Venugopal (Nithin Satya). His last hope is none other than police officer Tamizharasi (Navya Nair) referred by Nedumaran. But, again situations force Venu to fall into the pits of unimaginable shock.

Does Venu get his right match or  his pursuit for the perfect one continues forms crux of the story?

Mere naturalistic performance from Cheran and entitling him as ‘Yedhartha Nayagan’ is a great job. Precisely, he is one among the other stars who fits exactly for the title. Pasupathy and Nithin Satya steal the show with their spellbinding performance of unique style. Indeed, they overbeat Cheran at certain points. Vimala Raman makes a great comeback with a matured performance and she is sure to score it big. Ditto for Karthika, Gajala while it’s a  mind blowing acting by Ramya Nambeesan. She never makes you feel it’s a debut flick and Navya Nair is actually there for nothing, but to drag you with a lengthy screenplay.

Nithin Satya churns an extraordinary performance and uttering of dialogues with the slang of Nagarkoil Tamil. Well, kind advise to him is ‘Kindly don’t accept film offers like Pandayam. You’ll loose something big.

One such thing that shouldn’t be missed on the part of star-casts are Manivannan and Karunaas. Both these actors are known for their best acting, alas, last few films weren’t so convincing for them. In this film, it’s so nice to see that Karunaas does a neat job, though he appears not more than 5 scenes.

Musical score by Vidhyasagar is not so convincing but the scintillating cinematography diminishes it. Editing is so simple in it terms that offers pleasant look.

Be it story, screenplay, dialogues and direction: debutant Jaganath does brims up with an innovative style.

Raman Thediya Seedhai is a film that shouldn’t be missed and it is sure to remain evergreen in the pages of Tamil Cinema.
