Rahman’s vocals not compatible for Salman

November - 13 - 2008

Yuvvraaj , predominantly designed as a musical, wins half the battle with a spectacular soundtrack. Rahman and Ghai team up for the best of contemporary and classical compilation. Yuvvraaj is a majestic musical treat for Rahman fans.

But, the little birdie says, despite the last ode Dil Ka Rishta, seemingly conceived as a climax opera act comprising the three leads Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Zayed Khan who play brothers in the film. Heavy on orchestration, the song has Sonu Nigam taking the lead with able support by Roopkumar Rathod. A R Rahman chips in for the more demanding classical rendition, has recently reluctant to lent his voice to Salman, thinking that Salman Khan’s trademark anglicized accent, will not blend well with the vocals of crooner that made the composer to back out form rendering his vocal chords and the buzz reveals the song suited for Rahman’s strong vocals might be slightly slashed in the screens. It all along with the backing vocals by six singers are more significant that mere chorus notes which works wonderfully for the song. Dil Ka Rishta has the right measure of zing and never founders on energy.
