Angelina Jolie broke down in tears on Monday (17Nov08) as she revealed her late mother inspired her to take on the lead role in new movie CHANGELING.
The actress plays Christine Collins, a woman who’s left devastated by the disappearance of her young son in the Clint Eastwood-directed film.
And at a press conference in London to promote the movie, Jolie recalled the passion and dedication of her own mother Marcheline Bertrand, who died of cancer in 2007.
Fighting back the tears, Jolie said, “She was very much Christine Collins. She was really sweet and was never angry – she couldn’t swear to save her life. But when it came to her kids, she was really fierce and so this is very much her, her story.
“She was the woman I related to, who had that elegance and strength through just knowing what was right.”
Jolie is already being tipped for an Oscar-nomination at next year’s ceremony (09) after she wowed critics with her moving performance in the film.
