Kannada film actor Sudeep will be working in his second Hindi film shortly. The success of Phoonk has brought in some new offers to Sudeep, but he has decided to work with his Bollywood mentor Ram Gopal Verma again.  RGV is getting busier with his next big release Rann – A News Story which will have Sudeep in the leading role working with none other than the Big B.
Even in his Bangalore press conference before the release of Phoonk, RGV was saying that he intends to make a film on the media and its hold on the political and social life of the country.  Now, he will be fulfilling his desire by making Rann which will be a high voltage drama.
The star cast of the film is certainly bigger.
Sudeep will be playing the role of Jay Malik,  an ambitious young person and son of the media baron Harshavardhan Malik. Amithabh Bachchan will be playing the role of Harshavardhan Malik.  The charactersisation of Sudeep is that of a go-getter and highly aggressive and ambitious youngster.  Sudeep wants to make his channel the numero uno among the channels and feels that his channel is a purely business enterprise which has to make profits and grow every year. Raima Sen would be playing lead with Sudeep in the film.
In contrast Amithabh Bachchan is playing the role of a highly moralistic father and professional journalist.  He is a Harvard-educated Journalist who is India’s most respected media personality. He is a hardcore upholder of journalistic ethics, but finds that his Channel is no as popular of other competitive channels who are doing anything to get business revenue and make good profits.
The cast also includes Ritiesh Deshmukh, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koiraala, Rajat Sharma, Gul Panag and Mohnish Behl.
