‘Hook Ya Crook’ cast agreed for a pay cut

February - 6 - 2009

john-abraham2The John Abraham – starrer Hook Ya Crook is one of the movies affected by the ongoing recession.

It’s reported that the entire cast has agreed to cut their remuneration to take the financial pressure off the producer.

Being directed by David Dhawan , the movie features Genelia D’Souza , Aditya Panscholi and Kay Kay Menon in main cast, apart from John. The film also has Indian skipper M.S Dhoni sharing the screen space with other actors.

The movie, based on cricket, was estimated to be made on the budget of Rs 40 crores. But some sources state that in this time of recession a movie on cricket at the humungous budget of Rs 40 crores wasn’t a safe bet. So the entire cast, including John, was asked to reduce their fee by at least 50 percent. The only exception was cricketers.

Music director Pritam , who is working with David for the first time, didn’t comment directly on this but has heard that some of the cast members have to satisfy themselves with a much less pay cheque.

Some sources even reveal that Irrfan Khan stepped out of the film because of this reason and later Kay Kay Menon was roped in to do his part. Aditya Panscholi, too, admitted about the cuts. However, UTV, the producers, denied any such reports.

‘Hook Ya Crook’ is written by Rensil D’ Silva, the award-winning writer of Rang De Basanti . The film is first by David Dhawan for UTV Motion Pictures. Shooting of the first leg has already started with John flaunting some cricket moves on the sets.

Well, it’s reported that M.S Dhoni was not asked to reduce his signing amount. But as for now, things are well and the movie’s shoot is continuing without any interruption.
