Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire is a real millionaire now as it added three more trophies to its kitty at the London Film Critics’ Circle Awards on Wednesday.
Apart from the Attenborough British Film of the Year and the British Director award, Slumdog Millonaire also won Simon Beaufoy a trophy for Screenwriting.
The film’s lead, Dev Patel lost out in the Best Actor category to Mickey Rourke for the Wrestler but there were no hard feelings.
“Of course, I mean it’s the critic’s choice. In London, home turf and the critics have nominated it and you know, they watch films everyday, so just to be even recognised by them and to say ‘thumbs up, it was ok,’ is just great,†says Dev Patel.
Patel might have lost out to Mickey in this round but he’s bagged a role in M Night Shyamalan’s next The Last Airbender.
Patel steps into a role that was originally meant for Hollywood heartthrob Jesse McCartney. Although details on the project are sketchy production is slated to begin in mid-March for a 2010 release.
