Having shelved his ambitious project Marmayogi, Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan is learnt to be planning to remake the Hindi film A Wednesday .
According to reports from Kollywood, Kamal himself will direct the film which has won its director Neeraj Pandey plaudits aplenty in Bollywood. The movie, a tale of a common man’s fight against terrorism, starred Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher in principal roles.
The south remake is titled ‘Thalaivan Irukkindran’ (The Leader is There).
Kamal Haasan and Malayalam superstar Mohanlal are reportedly set to play the two roles in the Tamil remake. However, it is still not clear whether Kamal will play the cop, or the common man who plants bombs in different parts of the city.
While speculation was rife that another top Malayalam star Mammootty is in contention to star alongside Kamal in the film, sources said Mohanlal, who has acted in Hindi films like Company and Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag , is favourite for the role.
