Mariyaadhai – Stops Half the way of ‘Vaanathai Pola’
The duo combo had the best label indeed. Yup! ‘Vaanathai Pola’ – Who needs the promo than this title? Almost a decade ago, the film had a great welcome amongst all centres as well peaked with heavy collections in box office? So, how about this ‘Mariyaadhai’? Have Vikram and Vijayakanth have made something more exceeding your expectations or else dashed down your hopes?
Precisely, the film has good contents that gradually let’s you ennoble this flick to be a pleasant family entertainer. On the pars, unwanted heroisms depicted on Vijayakanth stops your singing more appraisals for the film. It’s more evident with the first shot with the introduction part of Elder Vijayakanth. A moustache drawn on Shining Sun and that eventually turns into Vijayakanth’s face. Ludicrous of course! But let’s stop making satirical comments. Well, the rest of this show is middlingly commendable. It has got a good message of ‘Green Revolution’. A brainy move by Captain Vijayakanth who has delivered a good message though not a direct political propaganda!!!
The film opens with well-respected man of town Annamalai (Vijayakanth) letting his son grows up on his own wishes. Even he admits his son for the course of Agricultural field out of lad’s interest. As he doesn’t like his son being called with native name Piccha, he rechristens him as Raja (Vijayakanth again). Years later, Annamalai who was seen in the biggest mansion surrounded by a land of 150Acres is spotted in a small house. Although, Raja has a lovable father, caring mother Alamelu (Ambika) and an affectionate sister, he has a great sadness hidden. Meanwhile, as Annamalai arrives in a court regarding a case, he meets his old friend (Nizhalgal Ravi) who requests him to take care of his daughter (Meera Jasmine) as he would flying in US and get back after 8 months.
The cute- well going girl turns to be so closer with everyone in the family, but Raja doesn’t utter a word to her. So, what’s the biggest mystery amongst this beautiful family? Why Raja is so desolated all the time? Things are more crucial than ever once Annamalai and his wife find out that Meera isn’t the daughter of his friend. With all these puzzling knots, things are revealed in the latter part.
Vijayakanth does a decent role in both characterizations. But, it would’ve been better if he had appeared trimmed in size alike in ‘Vaanathai Pola’. Of course, you are not supposed to expect a person to remain same for next 10 years. Meera Jasmine adds to the humor part on some occasions alongside Ramesh Khanna. Meena projected on a different role is a real surprise to all audiences. Ambika does justice to her role. Sampath hasn’t got much to showcase other than just being a baddie.
Musical score by Vijay Antony doesn’t seem to be convincing. Likewise, the other technical aspects too including cinematography and editing…
Vikraman comes up with a good script that’s sure to go quite impressive amongst the family audiences in down south. While in multiplexes, the film hasn’t got more opportunities to strike jackpot.
