Masilamani – Loaded with commercial fiestas
Sun Pictures stepping on with vivid marketing for the medium-budget flicks and turning them into super hits has been their mission. Exactly, that had turned to more evident with ‘Kadhalil Vizhundhen’, ‘Thennavattu’, ‘Thee’ and as well ‘Ayan’. On the pars, Kalapathy S Agoram grossed with a good profit on ‘Santhosh Subramaniam’ and now they’re set on with yet another commercial entertainer.
‘Masilamani’ marks the directorial of RNR Manohar who earlier penned dialogues in various Tamil films that includes Parthiban’s ‘Pudumai Pithan’. And another factor highlighting this flick is hot pair ‘Nakul-Sunaina’ who has turned to be more far-famed with ‘Kadhalil Vizhundhen’.
So, what’s the story of Masilamani?
So simple and doesn’t run off-the-wall. Protagonist of the film Masilamani (Nakul) is born and brought up in the backdrops of slum right form his childhood. As in clichéd manner, he falls in love with a rich girl Divya (Sunaina) happening to a Kalakshetra student. As known uninformed, the bridge of rich-poor happens to be a great barrier and how he accomplishes with his act forms crux of the story.
If Nakul was depicted as a lad with psychotic nature in his ‘Kadhalil Vizhundhen’, this film has a different dimension on him. He’s a chilled aggressive youngster and Director Manohar has applied the smart plots much bonded to this character. Sunaina has plenty of scopes to establish here in this film. An equal proportion of performance and glamorous quotients has been well-established here. Santhanam, Srinath and MS Bhaskar add to the humorous quotients. Especially, Manohar imitating various stars of Kollywood is a commendable piece of work.
Musical score by Imman is enjoyable and ‘Odi Odi’ wins whistles and applause from audiences. Cinematography and editing has been apt on many sequences except some unwanted shakes.
Manohar has penned a gripping screenplay that’s quite enjoyable on many parts.
On the whole, ‘Masilamani’ is a better show when compared to previous weeks’ releases in box office. Although, it wouldn’t be an interesting film for elite groups and ‘B’ and ‘C’ classes will enjoy watching it. With Sun Pictures picking the right market, they’re flawlessly topping the charts with another profit-grossing project.
