Yogish’s new film Punda produced under the Super Good Combines banner has been launched in the Kanteerva Studios on Thursday. Suresh Chowdhary and Kuppuswamy who have already produced three Kannada films Oh Nanna Nalle, Sai and Indra are producing their forth film now. Yogish is being paired with new actress Meghana Raj , daughter of Sundar Raj and Pramila Joshai who has already made debut in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. H.Vasu is the director of this film which is a remake of Tamil Hit Polladhavan starring Dhanush and Ramya.
Since Kannada actress Ramya had acted in the original Tamil film, questions did crop about how she was not considered for the Kannada remake. “We felt Ramya has been in the industry for a long time and our hero Yogish having younger looks it would not be inappropriate to pair them’ said producer Kuppuswamy.
Director Vasu said that the original Tamil film had a universal subject and it would be very difficult to make any changes. “There was no nativity quotient in the original Tamil film. That is why we are planning to do the same film using different locations in Mysore, Bangalore and other places’ said Vasu. Vasu said the main thread of the story revolved around the passion for bykes by the younger generation.
Vasu said that the film’s shooting will progress in Bangalore for five days starting from Thursday and then the film unit will be shifting to Mysore.
Meghana Raj who is still studying psychology in Christ College will be acting in her first Kannada film. She has already worked in a Tamil film Krisha Leelai produced under the K. Balachandar’s film banner and directed by Selvam. Her second film which will be launched soon will be directed by Badri. Meanwhile she is also working in a Telugu film with Allari Naresh under the direction of E.V.V.Sathyanarayana. She expressed happiness about acting in Kannada language and said she will be dubbing her own voice in the Kannada films.
