Tallam Nanjunda Shetty, former President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce and owner of a chain of theatres in Bangalore has promised to screen only Kannada films throughout the year. He was nodding his head in response to the request made by KFCC functionary Sa.Ra.Govindoo who had requested Tallam to screen only Kannada films in his theatre.
The renovated theatre is now ready for public viewing again from June 19, when Rockline Venkatesh produced Yodha starring Darshan is hitting the screens. Bhoomika which was named as States theatre has a huge history dating some seventy years. States had screened Bangarada Manushya which ran for four years continuously to create a record of sorts. There are many Kannada films which ran for silver jubilee and even a year.
Thallam said that as president of the KFCC for two terms he was able to know the difficulties the Kannada film producers were facing to get the theatres in the Majestic area. “I have not yet worked out the exact amount I have spent, but I have spent whatever was required to make Bhoomika the best available theatre in the Majestick area’ said Thallam Nanjunda Shetty. He also thanked Rockline Venkatesh to have given his new film Yodha to be screened in his theatre.
KFCC President Jayamala, KCN Chandrashekhar, President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, Nagabharana, the Chairman of Kannada film Academy and other office bearers of the KFCC were present.
