Paying Guests –Better avoid these guests
Alas, it’s been not so a hilarious moment watching this flick. Watch this film expecting it to be a comedy show and you’ll end with disappointments. Hardly there are certain moments that evoke laughter while right throughout the other duration; you’ve got to pretend as if you are laughing.
Precisely, there’s a big problem when it comes to adapting novels and a playwright directing a film. Chetan Bhagat’s ‘One Night at Call Centre’ gradually turned to be a disappointing film with ‘Hello’. As well Rituparno Ghosh’s ‘The Last Lear’ play made into film had an adverse effect. Likewise, here’s Paritossh Painter a dramatist commencing his directorial venture letting us down.
The film has a clichéd storyline and screenplay is so flimsy that doesn’t hold the audiences’ attention so intact.
The film is about four young, fun loving jovial boys [Shreyas Talpade, Javed Jaffrey, Ashish Chowdhary and Vatsal Sheth]. They’re on the journey of a mirthful and crazy pursuit of house which takes them through a series of ultra comical hurdles in a bid to find that one roof that can tolerate and shelter their combined problems?
In the search for a new accommodation, these crazy friends manage to convince their crazier landlord Ballu (played by Johnny Lever) to keep them as paying guests but, Ballu has one condition i.e. he wants only couples.
They give in to his conditions but how-they are all bachelors! Who will play their wives?
The new drama triggers a serious of confusions that builds into the rich complexities of mistaken identities and a climax of comic wizardries.
On the title cards of star-casts, we’ve Shreya Talpade and Ashish Chowdary coming up with their adeptness. Well, it’s really annoying to watch Javed Jaffrey as he keeps beating the same bush. Getting on with the hot girls Sayali, Celina, Neha Dupia; they’ve have nothing to do other than appearing in less costumes. Preferably, the guys on frontbench categories would love watching it. Totting up to their likes, there are much double etendre bounded dialogues. As mentioned earlier, the first half an hour of this film has mirthful moments. With much off a predictable climax, you’ll keep yawning and annoyed about yourself for getting to watch this show.
Technical aspects are quite commendable especially with the cinematography by Johnny. The exotic locales of Bangkok have been stunningly shot. Nothing seems to be off an appreciative work from Sajid-Wajid musical apart from ‘Jack N Jill’.
On the whole, Paritossh Painter could’ve been patient of picking a right script in hand and executed it much more convincingly.
When it comes to ‘Paying Guests’, it’s better to just take a look on posters glued over city walls and don’t plan to watch this.
