Achchamundu Achchamundu – Tamil Movie Review

July - 16 - 2009

achchamundu-achchamundu1Technically, the film ‘Acchamundu Acchamundu’ has done something more different herein Tamil film industry. But things are quite contrastive when it comes to narrative aspects. Well, Director Arun Vaidyanathan couldn’t stop singing appraisals of his own film.

But you know what; the film has nothing extraordinary as you watch them on the screens.

One thing that would make us raise our hands for applause is Arun Vaidyanathan providing us information about ‘Statistics Report on Child Abuse all over the World’ during climax. But making a documentary or Public Service Announcement could’ve been a better option for the filmmaker.

Once you’ve completed watching the film, you’ll just think over – ‘Did the filmmaker make us sit for couple of hours just to convey the message at last?’ Indeed we thought so at the end. Arun Vaidyanathan should’ve penned an interesting screenplay to offer thrill moments. Nothing is so impressive on this narration.

Prasanna enacts the role of a young guy ‘Senthil’ holding a great position in job at New Jersey. His wife (Sneha) most of the times trying to show off as a homely girl and daughter Rinkoo who’s most of the times again speaking with American slang are his family members. Robinson (John Shea) comes off to paint his basement room and it’s later revealed that he’s a psychopath bounded with child-sexual abuse.

How Senthil saves the kid from this evil man is rest of the story…

Prasanna does nothing to prove his talent. What do you expect from a husband to react when is wife faints down. There’s no tension and emotes worthlessly. Sneha as mentioned earlier doesn’t go for better show and tries to expose her physique with tight-fitted costumes. Oops! She looks awful in modern costumes. John Shea looks like a circus clown and he doesn’t evoke terrorizing effect and instead you’ll laugh at him.

Musical score by Karthik Raja is average with few feet-tapping numbers and only background score by Martio kicks-off eerie feel. Cinematography with Red One Camera By Dennis is over-the-top.

Incisively, ‘Acchamundu Acchamundu’ isn’t a thriller. But a docu-drama with longer duration.
