Madurai Sambhavam – Completely unimpressive
A lyricist taking his stands on a filmmaker had something more to convey. Indeed, our expectations were more as we presumed for a commendable flick. Such were the pre-release scenario. But regrettably, nothing helps the film surmount your anticipations.
‘Madurai Sambhavam’ may boast something on reality grounds, but the way Yurekha takes things into consideration stirs up pitiable scenario for the audiences.
First and foremost, we would kindly Hari Kumar not to shore on commercial films. He has got the potential to deliver much powerfully if he gears up for off-the-wall conceptualizations. Rather, he fails terribly in winning laurels with this flakey commercial ingredients that in no way suits his space.
‘Madurai Sambhavam’ is nothing a beaten-up bush back in action about action. Bloodshed, overdosed romantic sequences, unwanted punch dialogues.
Although script work has been crafted with mediocre such a long duration of 2.5hrs just gets you nettlesome and restless. As well, there’s no pace and overloaded songs throw you out impatience walking away much before the show is over.
The film centers on a good-will don Aalmaram (Radharavi), reigning kingpin of Aatuthotti, a local area in district of Madurai. His life is happy with a good family of his ducky son Kutty (Hari Kumar) a bully and others. His niece Gomathi (Karthika) has a great likeliness for her cousin boy.
Local MP Ganeshan (Kadhal Dandapani), his arrogant wife and a cop (Raj Kapoor) keep terrorizing the entire area. Perhaps, their only take is to bump off Aalmaran and his co. Neither police nor politicians are able to control the conflict and finally Caroline Thomas (Anuya), a lady cop takes over the area. She comes across Kutty and there starts-off an affair between them.
Well, if you think things are doing well with the characters: you’re wrong. Rest of the film will unfold some unexpected turn of events with an appalling climax.
Radha Ravi steals the show in the role of a good-hearted bigwig. Although, we’ve spotted him in such roles, he offers something new on yet more improvised role. But Hari Kumar disappoints a lot. The biggest problem with him is what we’ve mentioned. Choosing wrong scripts and unapt characterizations. He can do wonderful job if a right script is picked. Anuya stuns with her spellbinding performance while Karthika hasn’t go much to deliver. Raj Kapoor and Kadhal Dandapani are projected much in the same patterns.
Musical score by John Peter is horrible and none of them are quite worthy heeding to. As well the cinematography overwhelms with more shakes and more cuts in editing…
On whole, ‘Madurai Sambhavam’ would’ve been a better show if the duration was less and certain clichéd elements were diminished. More than all, Yurekha needs to undergo a crash course in filmmaking and we recommend him to go in the way of other filmmakers watching DVDs instead making such hackneyed movies.

Actually the climax is good in this movie… Only thing, the body language and madurai slang does not suit the hero… If they have avoided punch dialogues, the movie would have been a big hit
