What’s your Raashee? – Very Bad Raashee

what’s your raasheeDon’t say – it’s a lengthy film and gradually that puts down audiences’ interests. But we need to point a small and simple question on Ashutosh Gowarikar? Did he ever watch the first copy of ‘What’s Your Raashee?’ Really, putting it is simple terms; one cannot afford to watch Priyanka Chopra alone for the next 210mins.

Personally, we had to regret watching a long-dragging tale of nettlesome sequences falling one after the other. It’s almost the same as ‘Salam-E-Ishq’ that offered a bad experience of watching 6 parallel love stories; this one has 12 tales of a guy encountering 12 different women of different star signs.

It’s more or less the same as Saas-Bahu soap shows that keeps going on and on for episodes and more. According to sources, one of the renowned directors had adapted the Gujarati novel into small screen drama.

Perhaps, if Ashutosh had attempted for similar factor, he could’ve filled his pockets with some good profit with more sponsors. Yeah! 12 episodes and just roping in Priyanka Chopra-Harman Baweja into the idiot box would’ve worked as a revolution in Television history.

Anyways, we aren’t special advisors to Ashutosh and he may get frustrated as he does in award ceremonies.

Let’s get straight: ‘What’s your Raashee’ has a good conceptualization by Madhu Rye with his novel. But on the screens, it’s an undeniable misfortune. Sorry to say – the film doesn’t carry any appealing factors at any parts except couple of portrayals on Priyanka Chopra.

The story of what’s your Raashee goes this way…

Yogesh Patel (Harman Baweja), a young man who in his heart has always wanted a love marriage. Till suddenly he is told that he must find his dream girl within ten days to save his family from utter ruin.

Finding the dream girl is tough enough. Finding her in a hurry is even tougher.

His solution is simple; he will meet one girl from each Raashee – sun sign, as he feels that is the best way to make sure he finds a suitable wife, while also giving himself twelve chances to fall in love. Two meetings per day gives him six days to meet them, three days to make a final decision and he can get married on the tenth day, or so he thinks.

Fine! Getting on with analysis, it’s Priyanka Chopra – the showstopper of ‘what’s your Raashee?’ Precisely, she doesn’t a magniloquent task by delivering the powerful performance with more variations. Hats off to Ashutosh Gowarikar for his astounding director’s cut on delineating each of 12 portrayals with commendable motif.

But supposedly, this is a romantic tale of a guy meeting 12 girls of different Raashee and finally choosing one amongst them. But, a lengthy tale doesn’t work out at many parts. On the pars, the stereotyped screenplay makes audiences yawn out saying ‘Aahaah—Next, Next’ and wait for the final credit and of course, the surprising climax.

Did Ashutosh wanted to keep up his trademark of following the same duration as in his previous films ‘Lagaan’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’? Again, more questions would pop-up instantly if we continue with the prolonged analysis.

So making it simple, Priyanka is fantastic and we congratulate for her. But one thing, 12 Priyanka Chopras of ‘WYR’ cannot be equivalently powerful as 1 PC in ‘Kaminey’. You’ve got to accept it and if not, watch the film if at all you dare for it.

Musical score is quite interesting as three songs do sound good and feet-tapping. Indeed, cinematography is perfect with eye-catching visuals and choreography is mind-boggling.

But again, finalizing with the verdicts, Ashutosh should’ve worked on for more riveting elements that would have easily saved the film from sinking.

As a whole, we would wholeheartedly thank the magnificent astrologers who just stopped with 12 Raashees (12 Sun signs) or else Ashutosh would’ve tortured us with still more lengthy film maybe around 4.5hrs.
