Had you ever witnessed unflinching glimpse what a real prison life is? Just plan to watch ‘JAIL’: Madhur Bandharkar’s zeal on touching realms of reality strikes spectacularly. But make sure, you would love watching a raw drama and nothing else. The film doesn’t bring you the same stuffs you would’ve experienced with Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani – the other release of this week.
Let’s start off with the film’s synopsis followed by sneak analysis…
Parag Dixit (Neil Nithin Mukesh) had no worries in his life as he boasted to be God’s very own child. He works hard and enjoys life with his lovable momma and a caring girl friend (Mugdha Godse). But his life is turned upside down over a night when his friend gives him Dhoka by dealing with narcotic drugs and Parag is unaware about it. On the run over chase, Parag is requested by his friend to increase the car speed. But as Parag slows down, his dost gets-down from car triggering bullets at cops and indeed gets hit by the same dropping into coma. Now, Parag is imprisoned for an uncommitted fault and is left desolated in thickly-populated jail. But then, he has his very own new life commencing with new friends coming along his way.
But then, when his friend in coma dies, Parag is left to choose between two things: to fight for his rights of freedom or get himself ruined forever.
‘Jail’ isn’t a flick that just focuses on one person Parag Dixit, but diverts into parallel tracks of various characters whose lives are so worsened as Parag. Just look out for the sequence Abdul Ghani (Rahul) elopes from prison to meet his beloved wife only to find that she’s having an affair with a cop in charge of prison where Abdul was present. As well, Kabir Malik (Arya Babbar) right hand of mafia operates by choosing innocuous people for his Bhai’s Kaam. But when his eyes get soaked with Neil offering him to do take on with assassination assignments for letting him free, you’re sure to get moved.
Manoj Bhajpayee is awesome… If he transfixed you with talkative nature in ‘Sathya’, the actor sweeps you out merely with his expressions over eyes.
Mugdha Godse comes up with a flawless performance. Her character has been well established by Madhur where she dies out to bring Neil out of prison. Atul Kulkarni’s cameo is fine. Manoj Bajpayee’s voice style seems to be inspired from that off Morgan Freeman in ‘Shawshank Redemption’…
Technically, the camera positioning is quite impressive and background score as well. ‘Saiyan Ve’ is a feet tapping number and Lata Mangeshkar’s song is mesmerizing. Sayali Bhagat’s item song is unwanted. And finally, Madhur’s statement about the statistics report over innocent victims imprisoned puts you into extreme shock.
So, if you’re looking out for a very special film that offers you detailed pictorial on prison much alike ‘Shawshank Redemption’ and ‘Midnight Express’, go ahead and watch ‘JAIL’…
