Well, still we’ve some more days for yearend and maybe, it’s not the right time to mark our verdicts on listing best films of this year. But with an undoubted motif, clear lines can be drawn that ‘Thrillers’ have dominated the year 2009 at Tamil film box office.
Cinefundas brings you a glimpse over some of the ‘supernatural thrillers’ that overwhelmed the audiences with extreme excitements and urged them to watch it again and again.
1.   Yaavarum Nalam – After not many releases doing extremely well in first couple of months, ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ struck jackpot in box office with big collections. Produced at a cost of Rs.4.5Crores, the film witnessed double the collections at box office. Perhaps, many film critics attempted to correlate the film with various thrillers of western movies for comparison and yet couldn’t accomplish with it. The film had an exceptionally brilliant theme and technical adeptness was awe-inspiring… As a matter of fact, there hasn’t been such a thriller with twists and turns on every 5th minute.
2.   Eeram – Nearly after three months of time, director Shankar’s ‘Eeram’ geared up for its competency. Though ‘Eeram’ cannot be considered as an equivalently overpowering show as ‘Yaavarum Nalam’, it had some interesting elements that the other film lacked to a greater extent. Much particularly, it overshadowed ‘YN’ on emotional quotients and relationships.
3.   Edhuvum Nadakkum – Directed by duo: Maheshwaran and Rosario, the film is a supernatural thriller, which is said to be made with the typical style of Alfred Hitchcock films. Starring Karthik Kumar and Aparna Nair in lead roles, the film seem to have been shot with HD camera and latest technological advancements in editing. The most worth mentioning part is that the film has no songs. The film is slated to hit screens on December 4…
4.   Ananthapurathu Veedu – Again, it’s one more thriller from director Shankar. Remember director Naga! The most happening auteur enthralled us with trilogy of ‘Marma Desam’ in small screens is set to make his debut directorial with this film. Featuring Nanda and Chaya Singh in lead roles, the film is almost nearing completion. As the title suggests, a married couple along with their small daughter visit an ancestral house unaware about a dark past hidden within.
