Williams ‘would have died if he’d not gone to rehab’

November - 24 - 2009

robin williamsRobin Williams would have died if he had not sought help for his alcoholism, according to his son.

The comedian has long battled a dependence on drink and relapsed badly three years ago, alarming those close to him with a series of self-destructive binges.

Williams’ 26-year-old son Zak hints he and other close family members staged an intervention to force the funnyman into rehab.

He tells the New York Times, “There was an ultimatum attached to it.”

And he’s glad he stepped in and took action, adding, “I’m pretty confident that if he continued drinking, he would not be alive today.”
