Posters, visual promos and teasers – if you ever thought Tamil film industry was strictly stuck to merely these aspects of promotions, then you’ve got to rethink. The new era involving emergence of corporate companies and kingpins of Tamil film industry has let them to gear up for something more than the normal standards.
Say for instance, Sun Pictures has been vigorously promoting their films not merely with vivid teasers, but they have developed new tactics such as inviting actors and film celebrities for theatre visits.
By nature, they’ve witnessed good results with such traits.
On the pars, there’s another track of promoting certain films that has a touch of offbeat theme – Screening them at International film festivals.
This has been haunting every filmmaker in town in the recent times. Director Ameer has screened his film at Dubai International film festival and indeed he had plans about releasing the film post-festival.
But here’s something we have to clearly understand. Certain films are officially nominated for screening. Say for instance, Sasi Kumar’s ‘Pasanga’ and ‘Subramaniapuram’. But there’s a group of filmmakers in town who exhibit their films at international film festivals with their own interests.
An NRI filmmaker with anonymity made a film based on child abuse, which didn’t cross 10 successful days even in multiplexes. But, till now he has been screening them in all international film festivals.
There are altogether 1300 International Festivals happening through out the year. To be frank, few filmmakers have been spoiling the heritage of Tamil film industry by screening some of the worst films for their own publicity.
Let’s hope, there’s particular council set up to curb these activities down and promote good quality films to international standards.
