Prakash Raj said that, he is producing the film in Tamil and Telugu and he will play the lead role. Prakash Raj says that his next film will be the Rs 11 crore bilingual Pyanam. The film to be made in Tamil and Telugu will see Prakash only as an actor and a producer. He will play the role of a bureaucrat from the Prime Minister’s office in Payanam. Radha Mohan who had directed Mozhi and Abhiyum Naanum for Prakash will be directing this film.
The film is inspired by the Indian Airlines plane that was hijacked to Kandahar in 1999. Prakash says that his inspiration came after reading the book Flight Into Fear by Captain Devi Sharan, the pilot of that ill-fated plane. The film will however not be based on the events of the hijacked plane or incidents. In Payanam, a plane that takes off from Chennai airport is hijacked within 15 minutes of take-off. It is forced to land in the airport at Tirupati. A replica of the airport at Tirupati is being set up at the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad.
