arundhati, ayan, padikadhavan, peranmaiSo many big releases with matinee idols and happening technicians….The year 2009 has been one of the most special year for Tamil film industry box office since, lots and lots of surprisals have taken place.

The most expected films flunked at box office while the ones that didn’t have any hypes had hit the bull’s eyes.   We’ve got exclusive reports from one of the happening trade analysts of Tamil film industry with anonymity brings us the list of movies that made big at box office during 2009.

1. 2012 – Ever imagined about a Hollywood film peaking with such an abundant collection at box office.  Producer Ramanarayanan of Sri Thenandal Films had acquired the release rights of this film just for Rs.55 Lakhs. Do you have any guesses about the present status of box office collection? Its 10Crores and still the shows are witnessed to be house-packed.

2. Arundhathi – Again, it’s a heavy downpour for producer Ramanarayanan as he picked the rights for the dubbed version of ‘Arundhathi’. Though, the exact collection reports for the film hasn’t been furnished, buzzes are that he invested a much smaller amount and collected more.

3. Ayan – Perhaps, you can term this film to be a great project in Sun Pictures’ production career. Although, their previous films weren’t so fantabulous, this one fetched them good collections. Naturally, it wasn’t patently because the film was a great hit…’Ayan’ made it big in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai as well due to the inevitable conflict between Hindi film producers and multiplex owers and Hindi films weren’t released nearly for 4months. As well, there weren’t any big budget Tamil films.

4. Padikadhavan – This was an above average fare as Sun Pictures did their best to promote the film. It didn’t win favors of film critics as it was said to be a worst film.

5. Peranmai – When Ayngaran Productions was almost out of showbiz due to continuous disasters, ‘Peranmai’ happened to be their life-saver.  The film has crossed 75  days and indeed is receiving some good response at box office.

Well, there are few films released in last month December. ‘Vettaikaran’ results have to be calculated within next 15 days. By nature, the film will surely have great feedback since Vijay usually has great opening for all his films and now with Sun Pictures vividly promoting it, chances are there for it to make a great wave for next 2 weeks.
