Caine loves u.k. christmas films

December - 26 - 2009

michael caineSIR Michael Caine gives movie studio bosses a holiday boost by agreeing to star in films released during the Christmas season.

The actor, who was born and raised in London, is trying to revive the U.K. economy by searching out the best British films to star in – and he picks projects that will be shot during autumn so that the industry will feel the benefit when the yuletide season rolls around.

He tells Total Film, “I’m always on the lookout for a small British film and so you’ve got (past movies) Little Voice and Is Anybody There? and Harry Brown. The moment the script is British and set in England, you’ve got my attention.

“I love working in England. I like doing it and I think it’s very good for the industry. I especially like working in the winter when it’s hard for people (financially). I’ve made a lot of English films in October to give them a very good Christmas!”
