Churned out at big costs, they failed to withhold our attentions. Especially the superstars Vijay, Shah Rukh Khan, Vikram and Surya had turned down our hopes.
Well, let’s glimpse through the sneak look into 10 best films that saved Tamil Cinema from sinking down with dishonor.

1. Unnai Pol Oruvan: Directed by debutant Chakri, the film was remade with accordance to the tastes of Tamil audiences. With two legends – Kamal Haasan and Mohan Lal sharing the screen space, the film won laurels amongst audiences, film critics and leaped with big collections at box office as well.
2. Eeram: Incisively, this film proved to be a big box office surprise as no one expected this film would exceed our own expectations. The film did extremely well to a greater magnitude that the shows were increased in almost all the theatres.

Yaavarum Nalam : The film is directed by Vikram K Kumar, who ruined himself previously with a worst debut ‘Alai’. ‘Yaavarum Nalam’ will have a special regard forever in the history of Tamil Cinema as one of the leading Hollywood production house has acquired the international remake rights of this film. Madhavan did a marvelous job in this film, but Vikram Kumar’s screenplay and innovative story happens to be the highlighting attribute.
4. Nadodigal : Here comes one of the path-breaking films of the Tamil film industry. Followed by grand success of ‘Subramaniapuram’, director Sasikumar geared up for his onscreen presence and excelled well. Director Samuthirakkani weaved a gripping screenplay that engrossed the audiences right from the beginning till the end.
5. Arundhathi : For the past couple of decades, none of the dubbed film witnessed fantabulous results at box office as this one. Starring Anushka in lead roles, the film won more laurels for a thrilling screenplay, mind-boggling special effects and overpowering performance by every actor.
6. Renigunta : Debutant Panneer Selvam creates a deep impact with this touching story about 5 juveniles who head for the hills from the prison. The film has more relevance with the contemporaneous societal issues.
7. Vennila Kabadi Kulu : This year has special mention for newcomers as they made wonderful attempt in breaking the clichés of Tamil Cinemas. Director Susindhran chose a simple yet powerful script based on his real life incident. The film would’ve done well if the climax was slightly modified.
8. Ayan : Though the film didn’t carry much on uniqueness, director K.V. Anand presented the film with racy screenplay. Based on ‘Catch me if you can’, the film won good reviews as well best collections in box office. An important film in the career of Surya indeed.
9. Pasanga : And again, we have one more debutant swaying with a decorous family entertainer. The film had lots of fun, frolic and emotional quotients that touched the senses of audiences.
10. Peranmai : Can you call it ‘Rambo’ or ‘Chak De India’? it can be adjudged as the the mix of both the films where a single man with the aid of 5 girls thrashes down the evil plans of foreigners to save our mother land. The film was sold out for a loss of Rs.4Crores… (Production value Rs.18Crores, sold out for Rs.14Crores). But the distributors are so elated that they took a cake walk with good profits.
But we’ve another film that will hold a great place in years to come… It’s none other than ‘2012’, which did a remarkable business at box office of fetching 6times the profit. Dubbed in Tamil as ‘2012 Rudram’, the film left a great impact on everyone.
