Yuvan’s bonanza in ‘Goa’ album

Venkat Prabhu and Yuvan Shankar Raja have been sharing a great rapport ever since they worked together for ‘Chennai 600028’. Their recent venture ‘Goa’ had a lukewarm opening, but literally transcended with some good reports due to vivid publicity of the film.

Now, both Venkat and Yuvan have decided to add couple of additional songs to the musical album of ‘Goa’. Already, one of the songs happens to be a visual of several montages that has a rendition has by Yuvan Shankar Raja himself. It involves the three guys going through a different makeover. Apart from this number, Yuvan will add a duet song completely with lyrical lines in English.

Meanwhile, Yuvan is curiously awaiting the release of his films ‘Paiyya’ and ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’ slated to hit screens shortly in coming weeks.

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria-Parker accidentally told her fans to watch porn on her Twitter page.

The “Desperate Housewives” actress, who signed up for a Twitter account last week, was trying to urge her followers to look at a website about her husband, basketball star Tony Parker, but accidentally posted the wrong address, femalefirst.co.uk reports.

After realising, she wrote: “Oh noooo! I put the wrong Twitter site for my husband! The one I put earlier goes to some porn site!!!! Don’t use it!”

Despite not knowing her husband’s website address, Eva, 34, recently spoke about how close she and her 27-year-old spouse are.

“We are just best friends. I love his company and I am married to the person I want to be with,” she said.

“I cannot ask for more. We respect each other as people and as a couple, and we trust each other. The best thing is that he loves to surprise me and I love to be surprised.”

Brangelina quash split rumours, sue tabloid

Putting break-up rumours to rest, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie put on a public display of affection at the Super Bowl American football final and have also issued a legal statement insisting they have no intention of ending their relationship.

Lawyers for the couple today said they are not about to split and would consider suing any media outlets that continue publishing the ‘false allegations’.

Dailymail.co.uk reports that the legal move follows weeks of speculation about their five-year relationship, with reports suggesting they have signed legal papers over their about $320 million fortune and custody of their six children.

Jolie, 34, and Pitt, 46, have previously ignored growing rumours that all is not well in their relationship.

Their public denial comes just hours after the Hollywood couple brought their eldest son Maddox, 8, to watch the New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami Sunday.

During the game, the couple were seen kissing, hugging and laughing together as they cheered on the Saints’ dramatic victory which provided such an emotional moment for the city of New Orleans, devastated by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

As they watched the game, the two gave photographers plenty to watch as they cuddled up for the cameras.

With Jolie dressed down in her signature black, the couple hoped to make a low-key entrance as they dashed through the stadium to take their seats for the big game.

It was the first time they’d been pictured together in over a month – after last being photographed out dining in New York on Jan 6.

Pitt and Jolie both attended the Directors Guild of America Awards over a week ago, but arrived separately and declined to be photographed together.

While not known for their huge interest in American football, Pitt and Jolie are big supporters of New Orleans and own a $3.5 million 1830s house in the historic Louisiana city.

Jackson doctor pleads not guilty to manslaughter

Michael Jackson’s doctor on Monday pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the sudden death of the pop star last year from a lethal cocktail of drugs.

Dr Conrad Murray, who has offices in Houston and Las Vegas, entered a Los Angeles courthouse to chants of “murderer” from Jackson fans gathered outside. Inside the courtroom, he faced members of the Thriller singer’s family.

Dressed in a grey suit and red tie, Murray stood upright and spoke in a soft voice when addressing the judge. Murray has been the focus of a police probe for months since the Los Angeles coroner’s office ruled that Jackson’s June 25 death was a homicide, due partly to the powerful anaesthetic propofol which Murray admitted giving the 50-year-old singer to help him sleep.

The coroner’s report said Jackson’s death was caused by propofol and the sedative lorazepam.

Painkillers, sedatives and a stimulant also were found in his body. Authorities found bottles of propofol in Murray’s doctor’s bag and on the bedside table of Jackson’s home, according to court records unsealed last year. They also searched Murray’s offices in Las Vegas and Houston.

Prosecutors said Murray “did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office.

Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted, a sentence that some of Jackson’s followers believe is relatively light given that his actions may have led to the singer’s death.

Murray has insisted he did nothing wrong and has told investigators he was not the first doctor to give Jackson propofol, according to court records.

THE COMEBACK THAT WASN’T

Murray, a cardiologist, was hired in May 2009 to care for Jackson while he prepared for a series of 50 comeback concerts in London aimed at reviving a career sidelined by his 2005 trial and acquittal on charges of molesting a 13-year-old boy. The singer, dubbed the King of Pop, was a member of the legendary Motown singing group the Jackson 5 and was a hugely successful solo artist as an adult.

His 1982 album Thriller is still the world’s best-selling album. Jackson’s sudden cardiac arrest on the morning of June 25, which prompted a worldwide outpouring of grief, followed a late night rehearsal in Los Angeles for the planned concerts that were to have been called This Is It.

A documentary film, “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” made from video footage of the concert rehearsals, took in nearly $260 million at worldwide box offices.

When Jackson died, he left an estate worth hundreds of millions of dollars that went into trusts benefiting his mother, three children and various charities.

Jackson’s family is said to be furious that Los Angeles police and prosecutors took months to file a criminal charge. His brother Jermaine Jackson, sister La Toya, mother Katherine and father Joe were in the courtroom on Monday.

Lindsay alleges beating by girlfriend Samantha

On-off girlfriend Samantha Ronson has allegedly beaten up Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan.

The actress, who has a turbulent relationship with Samantha, reportedly told a friend how the romance had, at times, been very violent, with Lindsay having the scars to prove it, reported femalefirst.co.uk.

“One time I saw Lindsay and she had a large welt on her head. She told me that Sam beat the s**t out of her,” said a friend. “She also said that Sam even punched and choked her one time.”

Although they have officially broken up, the two women still have regular contact with each other, which makes things hard on Lindsay.

This is not the first time Lindsay has made accusations about Samantha.

She once took to her Twitter page to berate Samantha, accusing her of cavorting with two other women.

The new romantic drama Dear John unexpectedly ended the seven-week reign of Avatar at the weekend box office in North America on Sunday, pulling in large numbers of young female moviegoers.

Dear John grossed an estimated $32.4 million in the three-day period since opening Friday, said distributor Screen Gems, the low-budget division of Sony Corp.

It had hoped for an opening of about $20 million on a weekend when many Americans forsake movies to watch the Super Bowl, traditionally the year’s most-watched television broadcast. The football championship starts around 6:25 pm (2325 GMT) in Miami.

Dear John stars Channing Tatum and Amanda Siegfried as lovers whose romance is curtailed by the September 11 attacks. It is directed by Swedish filmmaker Lasse Hallstrom and based on The Notebook, a novel by Nicholas Sparks.

Audiences for the film were 84 percent female and two-thirds were under the age of 21, Sony said.

The last romantic comedy to hit theaters was the widely panned Leap Year about a month ago. The Lovely Bones, another box office disappointment, also has made a play for young women after failing to get any traction during the annual movie awards season.

Avatar earned $23.6 million in its eighth weekend, taking its total to $630.1 million. James Cameron’s sci-fi blockbuster surpassed the $601 million haul of his 1997 release Titanic last Tuesday to become the biggest movie of all time in the United States and Canada.

The data are not adjusted for ticket-price inflation or for the higher cost of 3D engagements. The film was released by 20th Century Fox, a unit of News Corp.

Travolta trips

John Travolta’s latest box office offering, From Paris With Love, was the actor’s worst start in almost a decade. The crime thriller opened at No. 3 with $8.1 million, falling short of modest industry expectations.

Travolta’s previous worst opening was the $4.5 million start for Lucky Numbers in October 2000. Travolta was in theaters last November with Old Dogs, which opened at ticket sales of $17 million.

From Paris With Love was distributed by Lionsgate, a unit of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. French filmmaker Pierre Morel directed it.

Many critics ripped both new releases.

Also new to the top 10 was Crazy Heart, which expanded nationally after seven weekends in limited release on the heels of its three Oscar nominations on Tuesday.

The picture earned $3.65 million, jumping six places to No. 8. Jeff Bridges, its star, is considered the favorite to take home the best actor Oscar on March 7 for his role as a washed-up country music singer and songwriter. It was released by Fox Searchlight, the art-house unit of 20th Century Fox.

Avatar and The Hurt Locker, now out on DVD, led the Oscar field with nine nominations each.
